It's your thoughts that count
Can people train themselves to think positively? I say ‘yes!’
My new book ‘it’s your thoughts that count – how to use your thoughts to transform your life’ is out now and has been placed fourth in the 2011 Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Book Awards. The winners of the Ashton Wylie Awards in association with the New Zealand Society of Authors were announced in Auckland in August. The awards recognise extraordinary literary talent in the ‘mind, body and spirit’ genre with entries invited in ‘published book’ and ‘unpublished manuscript’ sections.
I drew on my experiences playing hockey for England, coaching sport teams to victory, being a mother and working as a training consultant.
I wrote this book to inspire others to become conscious of the thoughts they create moment by moment in their daily lives and turn them into empowering thoughts.
My book is having a profound effect on business people who’ve been known to suffer from self-doubt; on sports people who’ve allowed fears and uncertainties to overshadow their talent; on young people setting out in the world who question their ability to be our future leaders; on parents who thought that it was ‘too late’ but who now realise that not only they, but also their children and grandchildren, can achieve whatever they’ve set their hearts on.
I’ve not only played several sports at representative level but have also guided sporting teams and individuals to team, and personal, success. I know the power of the mental edge and I know how to instill that edge in others.
However, some people don’t believe that they have any control over their future. The number of people seeking help for depression is rising dramatically and reported by the WHO to number 121 million people worldwide. The time to act is now.
This is a great book for anyone wanting to improve skills and confidence whether you’re a manager, a parent, a sports person or someone just feeling low. It’s a lively read – I’ve included tips for study and goal setting, ways to avoid procrastination and the pages are filled with inspiring colour photos, personal stories and quotes.
I’m thrilled that my book has been acknowledged by the Ashton Wylie Trust. Now I look forward to seeing others benefit from my experience and transform their lives.
You have the power to choose the moment when you want to transform your life by taking control of your thoughts. I wouldn’t want to waste a single second. Our lives are not a dress rehearsal. The moment to transform your life is now.
Here's what people are saying about my book:
‘I picked up your book yesterday. I thought I'd read a couple of pages to see what it was about. Before I knew it, the first chapter was out of the way. I couldn't put it down. I read the entire thing in one sitting. I'm now about half way through reading it the second time trying to pick up more detail. It is nothing short of amazing and I'd also like to thank you for putting such amazing wisdom down in the form of a book for others to pick up on’. Zachary Fearn, Engineering Student.
‘As a mum, mature student and business woman, I found that there is a wealth of wonderful advice in this great little book that I can use in all aspects of my life.’ Debbie Noon, fellow Rotarian and company director, NZ
‘Wendy’s book is beautifully presented with easy-to-follow, inspiring ideas. This book provided an invaluable aid to help me recognize and counter negative thoughts, both in croquet and in wider life. The improvement in my play since reading this book has been stunning’. Jenny Clarke, World Number 1 Woman Association Croquet Champion
‘Written in basic, non-technical language, this book will be a treasure for those needing inspiration, and for those who are full of confidence but who may not yet have realised their full potential.’ Eric Castle, former Bank Manager, NZ
‘Many books have been written on this important and fascinating subject. But here comes the most accessible of them all, filled with engaging personal stories we can all relate to, backed up with a readily practical plan that will enable us to truly make our own reality the reflection of our best thoughts.’ Julia Swanson, Attorney Beverly Hills, US
